

Olga Maria de la Fuente, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. She was born on April 28, 1937, in Chihuahua, Mexico. A graduate of Instituto Las Americas, Olga was a longtime member of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and the Guadalupanas at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She retired as a flight scheduler with Continental Airlines.
Olga had a passion for travel, enjoying adventures around the world with her family. She cherished her Happy Hours spent with neighbors and family, listening to music, socializing, going to the movies, shopping, playing cards, and cooking for her loved ones. She was lovingly known as Mom and Wela. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Olga is survived by her sister, Victoria Flores Cruz Rodriguez; her daughters, Pati Calvert, Terri de la Fuente and her wife Judy Wood; her sons, Roger de la Fuente and his wife Becky, and George de la Fuente and his wife Sue; and her beloved grandchildren, Virginia Calvert Martin and her husband John, Natalie, Roger, Daniel, Jessica, Nicole, and Samantha de la Fuente, and Sam Buchanan and his wife Sarah. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Jorge and Estela Flores Cruz, and her sisters, Estela and Bertha Flores Cruz.
A full celebration of Olga’s life and legacy will be held at a later date in Rockport, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
