

He is survived by Mary, his wife of 49 years, his son Gary Mann and his wife Kristi of Coppell, daughter Susie and her husband Dr. Derek McKaskle of Katy and his son Roger Mann of Katy.
He has four grandchildren, Conner and Daniel Mann and Abby and Kendra McKaskle.
He is also survived by his brother Johnny Mann and his wife, Linda of Texarkana, his sister-in-law, Norma Mann of Harlingen along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, September 16, 1936 to L.H. and Shorty Mann, who along with his older brother, Danny Mann Sr. preceded him in death.
The Mann family moved to Brownsville, TX in 1946 to open a Gibson’s wholesale company. Ron worked with his father when he was not playing football, baseball and basketball. Upon graduation from High School, he received a Naval Scholarship to Tulane University, where he graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree. Ron then went on to serve time in the United States Navy aboard the Taluga naval ship, where he served as a Lieutenant JG. He went from active duty in the Navy to reserve duty and took a chemical engineering job with Texaco in Port Arthur, Texas.
After marrying Mary on September 2, 1965, he and Mary moved to Brownsville to help his father open a second Gibson’s Discount Center. Over the next several years, the Mann family opened nine Gibson Discount Centers from Brownsville to Victoria, Texas. After the Gibson stores were closed, they opened two Drug Emporium stores, one in Brownsville and one in Victoria. They closed these stores in 2005.
Ron was a member of the Brownsville Church of Christ where he served as a teacher, deacon and an elder for more than 40 years. Ron and Mary moved to Katy, TX in 2010 and are members of the Cinco Ranch Church of Christ.
A visitation is scheduled from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Cinco Ranch Church of Christ in Katy, TX. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Price Road Church of Christ, 2434 East Price Road, Brownsville, TX 78521.
