Samuel David Laws passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 26. A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, Samuel’s life was far too short, yet his years were richly filled with love, creativity, spirituality, adventure and a steady pull toward new horizons. Samuel especially enjoyed being in the company of those he held closest to his heart.
Samuel was born on December 29, 1999, in Kingwood, Texas, to Paul Andrew and Anne-Marie Elizabeth Laws. He grew up in Kingwood and Katy, Texas, and spent every summer visiting extended family in England. From an early age, Samuel was very inquisitive and curious about the world, drawn to many interests and always eager to learn. Gifted both musically and artistically, he pursued culinary school and obtained a diploma in 2024, another expression of the originality and care he brought to what he loved.
Samuel found deep comfort in nature and animals, and he especially enjoyed spending time cuddling and playing with his favorite dog, Luna. He was an expert skier, a certified scuba diver, and was notably knowledgeable about marine life, interests that reflected his adventurous spirit and his appreciation for the beauty and mystery of the world. He loved visiting new places and new countries and was always learning something new. He carried a deep interest in the Ancient Gods, holding spirituality close as a meaningful part of his life.
Larger than life with a vibrant presence to match, Samuel treasured his family and delighted in making everyone laugh. From a young age, he loved going to the circus and dressing up as a clown, and in his younger years he loved to put on magic shows and entertain the family at home. He was voted Class Clown at Woodcreek Junior High School and later Class President at Tompkins High School, where he won a State medallion for his art, honors that reflected both his creative gifts and the joy he brought to those around him.
From a very young age Samuel loved going to the Renaissance Festival and dressing up, with a different costume for each themed weekends, winning best costume from time to time. It was his goal to eventually work there as an entertainer, a fitting dream for someone who so naturally combined artistry with a love of shared experience.
Music was one of the ways Samuel expressed himself most fully. He found great joy playing his bass in his bedroom and media room while listening to his favorite bands, and he shared this passion with family and friends, often going to see his favorite bands with friends and family. He had a true talent for entertaining, and his creative spirit was evident in all he did.
Samuel helped shape the lives of those around him, leaving a huge lasting impression on family and friends. He shared a close and meaningful bond with his older brother, Oliver, and his younger sister, Georgie. He was deeply loved by his parents, siblings, and grandparents, and he especially loved visiting his granny for a cup of tea. Samuel will be remembered for his vast knowledge, his creativity and passion for the arts, and the warmth he brought into every room, an enduring presence of laughter, joy, and love that will not be forgotten.
