woman, a strong-willed, strawberry-blonde firecracker who lived life to the fullest
and touched the hearts of all who knew her. A proud graduate of Louisiana State University,
she balanced the challenges of life while raising her only son. With unwavering determination,.
A pioneer for women in design engineering, Sandy excelled in her field,
designing submarines, jet turbines, and oil and gas plants. Her meticulous attention to
detail and precision set her apart, earning her a reputation as one of the top
professionals in her industry. Brilliant and quick-witted, she was a joy to be around,
and her lively spirit left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Sandy was born in San Francisco and traveled the world, exploring Australia, London,
Italy, and Ireland—where she even kissed the Blarney Stone. Despite her global adventures,
She deeply loved the United States, living in several states, including California, New Jersey,
South Carolina, and Louisiana. However, it was Texas she proudly called home.
Sandy’s love for culture and connection shone through her culinary talents. She
shared her travels with loved ones through her delicious cuisine. She had never met
a stranger, welcoming everyone with a warm heart and often giving them a sweet
treat when they visited.
Sandy’s compassion extended to all creatures, from majestic whales and turtles to
her beloved fur babies and cats. Yet, above all, family was the cornerstone of her
life. She was the cherished daughter of Billy and Opal Higdon; a loving sister to
Mike Higdon and his wife Linda; and an integral part of their large and beautiful
family. Her greatest pride was her only son, Shannon Moore and his wife Christiana;
her grandchildren Zachary, Melinda, and Jamie; and her six precious great-
grandchildren.
In her retirement, Sandy embraced the beauty of life, whether cruising the seas,
relaxing at a beach house, or visiting lifelong friends. Most of all, she found
happiness in quality time with her family, cherishing her precious great-grandson
Nathaniel, and celebrating the arrival of her beautiful granddaughter, Valerie Grace.
Sandy was an extraordinary, true original who lived with passion, grace, and
unshakable strength. Witnessing her life was an honor and blessing, and her memory
will be cherished forever in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
