Tamar Deon Degrate

Born December 19, 1976, in Waco, Texas to Sandra Degrate and Charles Jones, Tamar resided in Waco until attending college at Prairie View A&M University. After graduating, he settled in Houston, TX where he lived until his death.

On November 21, 2009, Tamar was united in marriage to Patrice Angel. The couple was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Naima. Tamar was a wonderful husband

and devoted father.

He was also a beloved Band Director for more than ten years, where he touched the lives of students at Houston Gateway Academy, most recently, Royal Middle and High Schools, Hartman Middle School, and Hartsfield Elementary School. He was also a long time member of Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Brookhollow Baptist Church.

Tamar was preceded in death by his loving father figure, James Dugay. He is survived by his wife and daughter, Patrice and Naima Degrate, his mother, Sandra Degrate and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

A wake service will be held on Thursday January 23, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Katy Funeral Home located at 23350 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, TX 77494.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 25, 2014 at 12:00p.m. in Waco at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 2814 S. 12th St. Waco, TX 76706.
