

Tim was raised in Edinburg, Texas, a small Rio Grande Valley community where he learned the value of hard work. After graduating from high school, Tim served his country in the United States Army for three years, where he was a sharpshooter and marksman. After finishing his service, he attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. After a long, successful career in the oil and gas industry, he retired from Fluor Inc. in 2010. It was in Kingsville that he met and married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Prater. Tim and Pat remained devoted to each other for almost 57 years.
Tim was an avid golfer and loved spending time with family and friends. He was a hobbyist golfsmith in his spare time and enjoyed traveling and reading countless western novels.
Survived by his loving wife, Pat; son, Allan Prater and his wife, Brandi; daughter Kris Fogie and husband, Clint; grandchildren, Gabrielle Andreason and husband, Alex; Tomas Prater; Clint Fogie; Joshua Fogie; Jacob Fogie; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Andreason; Naomi Andreason; Ephraim Andreason; sister-in-law, Jeannie Chamberlain, and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Marva Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Katie Prater; sister, Carolyn Forbis; husband, Virgil; and brother-in-law, Lewis Rogers.
Tim was an honorable Veteran, Husband, Father, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Prater family would like to give a special thanks to Veranda House Assisted Living in Katy, Fort Bend Hospice, and the staff who took great care of him in his final days of life.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 5, 2022, in the chapel of Katy Funeral Home. 23350 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, TX 77494
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Tim’s name to Camp Hope, PTSD Foundation of America.
