

Virginia attended a technical college in Corpus Christi, Texas, which set the stage for her successful career as an assembly worker at the Mitsubishi plant, where she dedicated many years to building forklifts until her retirement. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her job were admired by all who knew her.
Family was at the heart of Virginia’s life. She is survived by her children: Mary Voltin (Greg), Ric Lopez, Rosie Whipkey, Cheri Duszynski, and Sandra Lopez. She was a proud grandmother to Rudy Villanueva III, Laurie Saldivar, Shonte Mabe, Chrystal Whipkey, Ricky Duszynski, Amanda Duszynski, Kristina Lopez, and Krege “Joel” Bailey, and a loving great-grandmother to Tyler Villanueva, Avery Saldivar, Austin Saldivar, Ethan Saldivar, McKayla Mabe, Tristan Fassett, Layla Ivy, Curtis Lopez, Caden Lopez, Julianne Lopez, Alayna Wallingford, Bailey Gary, and Sophia Garcia.
Virginia is also survived by her siblings: Martin Benavides, Mike Benavides, Mary Rutiaga, and Janie Martinez, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ricardo Lopez; her parents, Frederico “Lico” Benavides and Anestoria “Lala” Benavides; her brothers, Raul and Freddie Benavides;her grandson, Russell Lopez and her great-grandson, Liam Daniel Mabe.
A woman of many interests, Virginia had a green thumb for gardening and took great joy in caring for her plants. She enjoyed caring for her dogs. She loved to sing and dance, and shopping was always a favorite pastime. Road trips and travel brought her immense happiness, and she had a special talent for decorating her home to reflect the beauty of each season. Virginia also enjoyed using her creativity to edit pictures online with AI, lovingly showcasing her family in unique ways.
Known for her culinary skills, she delighted family and friends with her signature dishes, including chicken and dumplings and banana pudding.
Virginia’s warmth, creativity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Virginia. Your legacy of love and joy will forever remain in our hearts.
