
The son of Dr. Parke Hardy and Mildred (Morgan) Struthers, he was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico while his father was on sabbatical.
He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Joyce Revoir Struthers, son William D. Struthers, sister, Jane Struthers Ward and brothers, Parke, John and Robert Struthers.
Al grew up in Syracuse, NY and graduated from William Nottingham High School. He went on to graduate from Syracuse University and the Syracuse College of Medicine. He served during WWII in the Medical Corp and the Medical Reserves.
After returning to the states, he completed his residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota specializing in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery. Upon completion of his training he returned to Syracuse and worked in private practice for 35 years retiring in 1988.
Al worshipped at Rockefeller United Methodist Church in Syracuse, NY. After retiring and moving to Nelson, NH he was an active member of the Nelson Congregational Church and acted as Sexton for the Town of Nelson Cemetery. Al will be remembered as a proud father to his children, a beloved “Bop” to his grandchildren and for his simple wave of the hand and message to “Keep the Faith”.
He is survived by his sons Alan Struthers of Somers, CT, Mark (Beth) Struthers and Samuel (Beth) Struthers, both of Strafford, NH; his daughters Sally (Adam) Struthers Gallucci of Longmeadow, MA, Suzanne Struthers and Shari Struthers Whitaker, of Cazenovia, NY; his sister Carolyn Struthers Black of Camillus, NY; and 18 grandchildren.
Services for Dr. Struthers will be private. There are no public calling hours.
