Her parents, Stanley and Maude (Johnstone) Brown welcomed their daughter into the world on April 27, 1932, in Keene, NH.
Amy took great pride in her role as mother and caregiver to many children in our community. She also found a special place in her heart for dogs.
A longtime member of the Hope Chapel in Keene, Amy had a deep abiding faith, attending bible study groups every Wednesday at the church, and reaching out to many, helping them in prayer.
She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her gardens. She competed in floral competitions annually at the Cheshire Fair in Swanzey, NH. She enjoyed going to the ocean, especially exploring the beaches at Hampton.
She will be greatly missed by many, especially her daughters, Sharon M. Spofford of Keene, Heidi M. Sprague and her husband Donald of Gilsum, NH; her grandchildren, Brian Spofford, Erik Spofford, Emily Sprague; her great-grandchildren Peyton Spofford and Portia Spofford; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Her husband Arthur Louis Duke, Sr., two grandsons, Keith Spofford and Danny Spofford, a son-in-law, Wayne A. "Freddie" Spofford, her twin brother Arthur Brown, and two sisters, Joyce Hemeon and Madge Brown, predeceased her.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16th at 10:30am in the Hope Chapel, 667 Main Street, Keene. Burial with committal prayers will follow the funeral service in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Duke’s memory to one’s favorite charity or do a good deed to others in her name.
