Brittney's life changed dramatically after a tragic car accident on May 1, 2004—just five days before her 17th birthday. Shortly thereafter, she found friendship, comfort, love, and support when she joined the Wheelie community. From that point, she faced years filled with adaptation and medical challenges. She overcame the usual limits of a Wheelie, transforming pain and challenges into positive moments.
Britt, though your life was tough, you always believed that laughter helped the most…the best-ever medicine. Your smile lit up a room, and your laugh was contagious. Since the age of sixteen, you have shown resilience through a series of challenging experiences. Although some days were perplexing, your strength and compassion consistently enabled you to surmount difficulties. Even during demanding times, you positively affected family, friends, and acquaintances with your supportive presence and attitude about life. As an empath, you had the innate ability to sense the hurting of those around you. Your compassion knew no limits.
Every one of us will always remember your love of God’s creations…animals, nature, and people. When we see trees dancing in the breeze, waves hitting the shoreline, butterflies flying around your Angel plant, sunshine bathing the day, and the moon rising over the mountains, we’ll think of your love for Mother Nature and how peaceful those times were for you.
Brittney is survived by her parents Susan and Larry Teryek, Siblings Matthew, Brandi, Jesse, Rilyn, Larry, Jr. (Ashley) and Chris; Nephews Brayden, Nathyn and Devin; Nieces Alyvia and Ella; Uncle John Messina, and Maternal Grandparents Darlene and Bob Morris. She is also survived by her biological father, Matthew Bernard. She leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and her long-time friend, Aja DeVork. Brittney’s many loving friends enriched her life in unbelievable ways. Her Wheelie friendships were of great joy to her. Those who passed before Brittney include her maternal Grandpa Richard Messina, Great Grandparents Mary and Ally Patregnani, Paternal Grandparents Margaret and “Mickey”, and Ashley Hawkins, her forever best friend since childhood. Britt’s loving fur-babies Bennie, Toby, Marley, Tyson, Shade, and Sunshine surely greeted her at Heaven’s Gates.
Brittney, as your forever loving family, we will always remember all the blessings you brought to our lives. Your kindness and love have left a lasting mark on our lives. Britt, as always, your spirit soars with the brilliant sunshine of life, and the sparkling dust of the moon. The diamond glimmer of stars will continue to tease your beautiful smile. Heaven is resounding with the joyous music you surrounded yourself with every day.
A CELEBRATION OF BRITTNEY’S LIFE WILL BE PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER OF 2026, HER FAVORITE SEASON.
