She was born June 14, 1971, in Corpus Christi, TX, the daughter of Carlos and the late Carol (Kliewer) Kier. She was a 1989 graduate of Lloyd V. Berkner High School in Richardson, and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in French and Russian Politics. On September 25, 2004, she married the love of her life, Matthew Drew.
Intelligent, warm, creative, and above all compassionate, are words that describe her personality. She loved reading, writing poetry and studying foreign languages: she was fluent in Russian and French. Her compassion was evident in the care that she showed to animals, especially cats born into the wild that, through her love and devotion, were domesticated and able to find loving homes. She also loved spending time with her Catahoula Leopard, a unique breed of dog, who was named “Java”. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe where she and her husband went on their honeymoon, and being outside, working in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her husband: Matthew Drew of Fitzwilliam, NH, her father: Carlos Kier of Arlington, TX, her brothers: Kenneth Kier of Rutland, VT and Brent Martin of Plano, TX, her sister: Alexandra Kier of Chicago, her step-father: Tom Martin of Pottsborough, TX, her father-in-law: Richard Drew and his wife Alicia of Richmond, NH, her mother-in-law: Roberta E. Berry of Lincoln, MA, her brother-in-law: Jonathan Drew and his wife Rachel of Arlington, MA, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her mother: Carol Kier.
A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at the Fitzwilliam Inn on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 11am to 130pm. There will be a brief time of remembrance at 12pm.
