He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, May 26, 1954, the son of George P. and Patricia (Comar) McMahan.
Mr. McMahan resided in several areas of the country before moving to Keene and then to Troy where he has resided for the past fifteen years.
He received a bachelor degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina and later, a degree in Theology.
He worked for over twenty years as a manager with several Rent-A-Center locations.
He was a member of the Hope Chapel in Keene, serving as an Elder and Lay Minister, where he led many people to Christ. He was also a member of the Friendship Rebekah Lodge No. 16 of Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
He enjoyed cooking, sports, coin collecting and playing cards. His most treasured pastime was that spent with his family and his church family.
He is survived by his children, Kelly A. McMahan and son-in-law, Zach Cooke, of Keene, Kaitlyn P. McMahan of Marlborough, NH, Daniel M. McMahan and daughter-in-law, Robin O’Brien of Troy, Benjamin J. McMahan of Troy, Kristen Parker of Charlestown, NH, and their mother, Paula McMahan, of Troy; seven grandchildren, Elliot Cooke, Alyx Emmond, Kayla Mooney, Warren Mooney, Ashley Gray, Tristin Parker, and Bentley Parker; his father of Charleston, SC; two brothers, James McMahan and Artie McMahan of Charleston; a sister, Bonnie Wiles of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Hope Chapel, 667 Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Hope Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. McMahan’s memory to the Hope Chapel, 667 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431.
The Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements.
