Dennis "Denny" L. Rhoades, Sr.

He was born on August 29, 1942, in Keene, NH, son of the late Marion A. (Willett) and Theodore L. Rhoades. He attended area schools and proudly served his Country in the Army National Guard.

Following his service, Denny had been employed by American Optical, Keene State College as a maintenance supervisor, and at Tuckers Transportation as a bus driver, from which he retired.

Denny married the love of his life, Carolyn J. DeRosier. They celebrated many wonderful years until her passing in 2013.

Holding many memberships to organizations such as the Italian Club, American Legion, Elks, and Moose Lodge, he was most involved and dedicate to the Eagles. He held just about every position over the years both within the local chapter as well as State President. He enjoyed attending conventions and participating in events including family picnics and getting to play the role of Santa.

Denny cherished his family, time spent camping, and being surrounded by his friends and family.

Denny will be dearly missed by his son: Dennis L. Rhoades, Jr, and his companion Linda Gordon of Hudson, FL; siblings: Frank Rhoades, Dean Rhoades and his wife Diane, Sondra Rhoades and her husband Donald Blake, and Bevann Harper and her husband Al; companion: Joyce Hautanen of Keene, NH; two granddaughters, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Carolyn, he was predeceased by many siblings.

A visitation for Denny will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. A celebration of life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1413, 115 Church Street, Keene, NH, beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 30th.

Military honors will be held on Friday, April 26 at 10:00 am at Mt. View Cemetery, Old Homestead Highway, Swanzey, NH. There will be no additional service; however, you are welcome to bring a remembrance of Denny to share.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to be made in Dennis L. Rhoades, Sr.’s name to the Kingsbury Pavilion at Cheshire Medical Center, 580 Court Street, Keene, NH 03431.
