

She was born in Jaffrey, NH on August 6, 1913, the daughter of Hugh and Agnes (Law) Morgan.
She grew up in Jaffrey attending local schools, and later received a Bachelor Degree in Education from Keene Teachers College, now Keene State College.
She began her teaching career in Fitzwilliam, NH. She later moved to Berlin, NH where she resided for many years, and taught home economics at Berlin High School. Following retirement, she moved to Keene in 1970.
She enjoyed traveling world-wide, especially to Europe, Cuba and Alaska. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking, and she was an avid reader.
Dorothy lead a very active and full life, however, the thing that she enjoyed the most and that brought her the most pleasure was time spent with her family.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her two children, Barbara H. Cook and her husband, David, of Bow, NH, Michael H. Holmes of Roslindale, MA; two grandchildren, Jennifer C. Lahey, Brian H.S. Cook; two great-grandchildren, Keaton Lahey, Gavin Lahey; two nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, G. Harold Holmes in 1971; a son, Gerald A. Holmes in 2003; and four brothers, Hugh Morgan, John Morgan, Joseph Morgan and Arthur Morgan.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 33 School Street, Troy, NH. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Holmes memory to a charity of one’s choice.
