Dorothy E. La Clair

She was born in Keene, NH, February 21, 1923, the daughter of Lewis C. and Inez (Hodgkins) Buntlin. She grew up in Surry, NH and was a 1942 graduate of Keene High School.

A resident of Keene for most of her life, Mrs. La Clair worked for 31 years as a secretary with MPB Corporation of Keene.

She was a past member of the United Church of Christ in Keene. She also was a member of the Senior Swingers and the Senior Center in Keene. Mrs. La Clair was an accomplished oil and pen and ink artist. She also enjoyed writing poetry and won the Golden Poet Award in 1989 for one of her creations and was published in the World of Poetry that same year. Because of her talents, she was always asked to create event posters and write poetry for retirement events at MPB.

She is survived by her children, Joey W. La Clair of Keene, with whom she made her home and who provided loving care to her over the past eleven years, Michael D. La Clair of Gilsum, NH, Terrance L. La Clair of Keene; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces. She is also survived by her special care givers of eight years, Barbara Rowe and her husband, Winston, and other devoted care givers, Stella Scott, Patricia Parker, Jessica White, Shayla Nolan, and her nurse, Heather Perkins. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Russell C. La Clair; a son, Russell G. La Clair; three brothers, Vernon Buntlin, Lawrence Buntlin and Lloyd Buntlin; four sisters, Fern Vanni, Lucille Beauregard, Irene Malcolm, Wanda Paakkonen; and her fiancé Neil Hescock of Greenfield, MA.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1:00PM in the Sturtevant Chapel, 15 Washington Avenue, Keene. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery, Keene, will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. La Clair’s memory to the Meals on Wheels Program, c/o HCS, PO Box 564, Keene, NH 03431-0564, or to the March of Dimes, 22 Bridge Street, Concord, NH 03301.
