He was born on July 24, 1940, in Troy, the son of Charles and Mildred (Waite) Giles. He grew up in the area and was very active with South West Community Services for over 30 years.
Ed enjoyed reading and was interested in history. He was very concerned about world events and politics. He also enjoyed traveling to places like New York and Maine. One time in Maine, he got to see George H. W. Bush. Another time, he got to meet and have a picture taken with Governor John Lynch. Also, while traveling, Ed got to enjoy another favorite past time: eating, especially desserts.
Ed was also a long time member of the Troy Congregational Church.
He is remembered by family and friends as a gentle, loving, kind, affectionate, sensitive and generous man who never said a bad word about anyone. Even in his later years, he never complained about any pain he was experiencing.
Ed is survived by his brother Harry Giles of Panama City, FL; his sister Hazel Corder of Independence, MO; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held for Ed on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Troy Congregational Church, South Main Street, Troy, NH. Burial will be held prior to the service at 12:15 PM at the Mountain View Cemetery in Troy.
In lieu of flowers, it was Ed’s wish that contributions be made to the Troy Congregational Church, South Main St., Troy, NH 03465.
