Edward W. Simonds Jr.

He was born in Keene on February, 12, 1921, the son of Edward W. and Olive (Rice) Simonds, Sr. He attended Keene schools and graduated from Keene High School with the Class of 1940. In high school, he was a 3-letter man in baseball, basketball and football. After high school, he played baseball with Tiny Miner’s West Keene team. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

Mr. Simond’s was employed at Knowlton & Stone, G.H. Tilden’s, and retired after 20 years with Kingsbury Machine.

He was a member of Jerusalem Lodge No. 104 F&AM, and was also a member of more than 70 years with the First Baptist Church of Keene.

Mr. Simond’s is survived by his wife, Barbara (Todd) Simonds, whom he married on April 11, 1942; cousins Shirley Morawski of Montague, MA, Lois Jackson of East Sullivan, Kim and Russ Nolan of Warner; and several nieces and nephews. His sisters Betty and Margaret died earlier.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Simonds will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Keene, 105 Maple Ave., Keene, NH. Pastor Mark Ferrin will officiate.
