Esther Yost Vermouth

Esther Sunderland Yost, 98, was born March 9, 1927, of Theron and Esther Yost. She died on August 22, 2025, at her home in Keene after a brief period of illness. She lived a joyful, full and vibrant life with a smile for all.

Esther attended Keene schools and graduated from UNH. She married Bob Vermouth in 1945, and they were devoted to each other in marriage for 67 years.

She was a Girl Scout leader, an elementary school librarian, active in the Lions Club shows, a member of the UCC in Keene and visitation committee. For many years Esther was the chairperson of the annual UCC Christmas fair.

Esther and Bob lived in Keene until retirement when they moved to Florida for their next chapter in life. In St Augustine Esther was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Shores Garden Club where she decorated homes for the Christmas tours in St Augustine, and a member of the Shores Methodist Church where she volunteered as the church librarian.

A church meeting room was named for and dedicated to her and Bob. Esther was an avid reader and year-round swimmer. They returned to Keene after 22 years to be near family.

Her love of traveling continued throughout her life. She and Bob traveled with their children during all school vacations and in retirement took many trips throughout the US and abroad.

Bob predeceased her. She leaves behind her children, Linda Vermouth of Keene, Diana Vermouth of Fruita, CO and William Vermouth of Spofford, NH, his wife, Lauren, as well as two grandchildren Lindsey and Jack and two nephews, Paul and Jon Vermouth.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00am in the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene, followed by a reception in the parlor given by the UCC Women’s Fellowship.
