

She was born August 24, 1917, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Mathison) Pittard. She was a 1935 graduate of Searles High School in Methuen, MA and went on to attend Providence Bible Institute. On December 31, 1940, she married the love of her life, Fred Ives Wood. For many years Evelyn worked for M.P.B. in Keene.
Evelyn was a very compassionate person who loved people and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a deep love for animals and was very devoted to helping the Human Society for many years, both on a local and national level. She had a very deep passion for art and enjoyed doing various crafts, including: painting, sewing, and creating beautiful handmade doll houses, where each part of the interior of the house was handmade and crafted. Her doll houses are one of a kind and were something that brought her great joy.
She is survived by her cousins: Joyce Tucker and her husband Harvey of Andover, MA and Shirley Nicalossi of Barefoot Bay, FL and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is also survived by Lynette Gordon and her husband Bill of Enfield, CT, Lynette and Evelyn shared a very close bond and were as close as mother and daughter. She is predeceased by her brother: Charles Pittard, who passed away during World War II.
During the final stages of her life, Evelyn was very blessed to have the care and companionship of her dear friends and care-givers, Matt and Gretchen Brown. They were with her through thick and thin and provided non-stop care for her. Evelyn’s family is very thankful for their friendship and kindness throughout the past few weeks.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall, 109 Old Homestead Ave, Keene, NH. 03431 on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00am. A Celebration of Life will be held at the E.L.M.Memorial Community Center, 20 Durkee Street, Winchester, NH. 03470 from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2014.
