
He was born in Port Jefferson, Long Island NY., January 4, 1927, the son of Forrest W. Davis Sr. and Alice C. (Pfeiffer) Davis Hawkins, and had resided in Dublin prior to moving to Keene.
Mr. Davis graduated from the Port Jefferson High School class of 1944, and went on to continue his education at the Brown Business School.
He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard (U.S. Merchant Marine) and had served during World War II in the Atlantic and Mediterranean/ Middle East War Zone.
At the time of his retirement in 1987, he had served with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for thirty years.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Marlborough Federated Church and had served on the property committee there for a number of years. He was a member of the Letter Carrier's Union. In his early years he was an avid HAM Radio Operator with the call letters of WA2RWZ. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and writing poetry.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years Clara (Thomsen) Davis of Keene, and his son: James A. Davis and his wife Helen of North Ft. Meyers FL., his daughters: JoAnn R. Robinson and her husband Lawrence of Marlborough, and Jane A. Dolewski and her husband Daniel of Ivanhoe, VA., his grandchildren: Amy and Jay Baldwin-Stephens, Kate Davis, Sara Davis and her fiance Dan Genovese, Emily and Michael Head, Martha Robinson, Daniel and Amy Dolewski, Benjamin Dolewski, and Darianne Dolewski; his great grandchildren: Ava Nicole Dolewski and Owen Michael Head.
Services for Mr. Davis will be held Monday morning at 11:30 at the Federated Church of Marlborough. Friends are invited. There are no public calling hours.
It has been requested that gifts be made in memory of Mr. Davis to the Memorial Fund at the Federated Church of Marlborough, 16 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, NH.
