
She was born in Keene March 1, 1924, the daughter of Alexander J. and Frances (Fitzgerald) Kelly, and has resided in this area all of her life.
She graduated from St. Josephs Parochial School in 1937 and from Keene High School class of 1941.
At the time of her retirement, she had been employed as a secretary with the New Hampshire Department of Voc. Rehabilitation at Monadnock Regional and Keene High Schools retiring in 1995. She had previously worked in the insurance field for many years starting at Peerless Insurance, Palmer Insurance Agency and Mason Insurance Agency.
She worked for the war effort during World War II, at Perkins Machine Company.
Mrs. Taaffe was a former member of the Keene Country Club and had served on the board as secretary. She enjoyed tennis and won many Monadnock region championships. She was a charter member and former secretary of the Keene Racquet Club, and had served on the board of directors and was a former secretary on the board at Prospect Place. She had been a supervisor of the checklist for Ward #3 for over 35 years.
She worked as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Bank, and has served as a past president of the Keene Woman's Club.
She was a communicant of St. Bernards Church.
Mrs. Taaffe is the widow of Philip G. Taaffe whom she married November 15, 1947 at St. Bernard's Church and is predeceased by a brother Paul Kelly and sisters: Dorothy Kelly and Mary Kelly Johnson.
Survivors include: her sons: Kelly Taaffe and his wife Debra of Jaffrey, Nickalos Taaffe and his fiancee, Christine Young of Stoddard; a brother: Richard A. Kelly of Keene, two grandchildren: Molly Taaffe and Alexander Taaffe both of Jaffrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Bernard's Church. Friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Monday afternoon from 3 to 6 o'clock at the Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene.
It has been requested that gifts be made in memory of Mrs. Taaffe, to the American Red Cross, NH Chapter, 2 Maitland Street, Concord, NH. 03301 for the NH West Chapter.
