Frank B. Gomes Sr.

He was born in Boston, August 12, 1933, the son of Alfred E. and Sarah (Bishop) Gomes and had resided in Dedham, Needham, Natick, Port St. Lucie Florida and has summered on Swanzey Lake for the past 39 years.

Mr. Gomes graduated from Dedham High School, class of 1952, and went on to Theological Seminary in New York and then realized that his talent was in the art world. He attended the School of Practical Art in Boston and then went to work for Raytheon Corporation and Data General. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Boston Coach for twelve years.

He was a veteran, having served in the US Army.

He was a member of the Covenant Congregational Church in Jamaica Plain, MA., where he had been a member of the church choir for over 40 years and served as Chairman many times. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge AF & AM in Boston, and had been a member of the Board of Directors of Pilgrim Pines Conference Center in West Swanzey, NH.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis R. Hallgren of Port St. Lucie FL. and Swanzey, NH; a son Frank (Buddy) Gomes Jr., and his wife Lynn of Reading MA., two daughters: Debra Smith and her husband Paul of Medway MA.; and Dee Ecklund and her husband Mark of Chicago IL., a brother Robert Gomes of Webster, MA., a sister Martha Kelleher of Woburn MA., three grandchildren, Kassandra Smith and her fiancé, Shaun Kilbride of Newport, RI, Matthew Smith of Medway, MA and William Gomes of Reading, MA. He was predeceased by his brother Alfred E. Gomes, Jr.

Services for Mr. Gomes will be held at the Boston Covenant Congregational Church, 455 Arborway, Boston, MA. 02130 on Saturday, September15th at 11:00 AM.

There are no public calling hours. Burial with full military honors and a Masonic funeral service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon MA, on Friday September 14th at 2:15 PM.
