

Fred was born on February 20th,1929 the first child of Natalie and Malcolm Ide. Upon his mother’s death, he lived with his grandparents outside Boston.
Fred was married to Mary Elizabeth Ide for 57 years until her passing on December 2013.
Fred is also predeceased by his son Patrick, and his daughter Dawn. He is survived by his sons Stephen of Walpole, N.H. and Geoffrey, his wife Geraldine of N. Walpole, N.H. Fred is also survived by grandchildren Amanda Smith, her husband Dan and family of Keene, Rebeccah Bashaw, her husband Dave and family of Charlestown, Geoffrey Ide, his wife Samantha and family of N. Walpole, Stephanie of Alabama, Michelle Nicholas and her boyfriend Brent of Sullivan, and Michael Zawistoski of Bellows Falls, VT,. As well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
During WWII, Fred was a member of the 126 Tank Battalion and Infantry Division. He was also a member of the Jerusalem Lodge 104 in Keene for over 50 years.
Before his retirement, Fred was an alcohol and drug counselor at Beech Hill in Dublin, N.H. and he helped many to achieve sobriety. He received his degree at Mount Wachusett College.
Calling hours will be at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH on Tuesday, August 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Services will be at the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene, on Wednesday, August 20th at 11AM. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene.
