

He was born in Keene, NH, September 29, 1940, the son of Geneva M. (Towne) and Gordon F. Buffum, Sr. A lifelong resident of Keene, he attended local schools and was a 1959 graduate of Keene High School.
Mr. Buffum was a Navy veteran serving from August 1960 until August, 1964.
He worked at the former A.E. Martel Company in Keene, and later for many years with MPB Corporation of Keene.
He was a parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene and a member and past Grand Knight for the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Assembly Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 819 of St. Bernard Church and the Richard P. Gilbo Knights of Columbus Council 5414 of St. Margaret Mary Church, Keene. He was also a past president of the Wheelock Elementary School PTA.
Mr. Buffum enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens and bicycling. He also loved to watch television, especially movies, and he enjoyed listen to country music. He was a very generous man, giving of his time in helping others. He especially enjoyed his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita R. (Girouard) Buffum of Keene, whom he married in the Sacred Heart Church of Marlborough on August 27, 1966; three daughters, Susan A. Waters and her husband, August “Dan” Waters, Sr., of Keene, Brenda J. Buffum and her longtime boyfriend, Christian Lambert of Keene, Pamela S. Buffum and her husband, Kais Ben Abdallah, of Seattle, WA; eleven grandchildren, Christa Macie, Daniel Waters, August Waters, Jr., Skye Waters, Jade Waters, Megan Macie, Deirdra Buffum, Mackenna Buffum, Lawyer Lambert, Elizabeth Parker, Reanna Parker; four sisters, Joan Burch of North Hebron, NY, Donna Ballard of Hampton, NY, Diann Hammond-Mason of Pawlet, VT, Theresa Folger of Wells, VT; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen G. Buffum in 2007; step-father, Robert Croff, Sr.; brothers, Harold Buffum and Leonard Buffum; and step-brother, Robert Croff, Jr.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. The Knights of Columbus Council 5414 will conduct a prayer service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:00PM.
