

His parents, Mary Lee (Castor) and Van Wilford Hastings welcomed their son into the world on July 19, 1968, in Keene, NH.
Herman worked for several years in production with Markem Corporation in Keene, and later with Polyonics in Westmoreland, NH.
Herman loved "puttering" around the house, watching and feeding the birds, and being outside. He enjoyed classic cars and motorcycling. His fondest memories are those created with his family, especially those with his grandson.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his son Matthew Van Hastings and his wife Nicole of Swanzey, NH; his grandson Tucker Herbert Hastings of Swanzey; a brother, Shaun Hastings of Keene; his companion, Carol Cote and her children David Pino, MacKenzie Harvey, Michael Pino and his wife Katelynn, and her grandchildren Landon and Bryce Pino; and many extended family and friends.
A celebration of Herman’s life will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 12:00 to 4:00pm at the Whitcomb Hall, 17-23 Main Street, West Swanzey, NH. All are welcome to attend.
Burial in the Woodland Cemetery, Keene, NH will be held privately by the family.
For those who wish in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Hasting’s memory to the Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center c/o Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, One Medical Center Drive, HB 7070, Lebanon, NH, 03756, to help patients battling cancer.
