

His parents, Bernard E. and Ann (Rayfield) Newman welcomed their son into the world on November 22, 1954, at the Ruislip Air Force Base in Ruislip, England.
James worked for many years with Con Edison Electric in New York. He was a self-taught master woodworker and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union in New York.
As a master carpenter, his talents found him creating many wonderful wood masterpieces including building of Steinway Pianos. He loved sharing his woodworking creations with his family and friends as well.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his mother, Ann Newman of Keene; his children, Sean Newman and his wife Sarah of Swanzey, NH, James P. Newman, Jr. of Putney, VT, Sarah Dunholter and her husband James of Keene; his grandchildren, Alexa Newman, Brady Newman, Jacob Newman, Ella Dunholter; a sister, Ann Marie DeTurris and her husband Frank of Swanzey; a brother, Michael Newman and his wife Mary of Keene; his nieces and nephews, Frankie DeTurris and his wife Nicole, Matthew DeTurris and his wife Christina, Michael DeTurris and his wife Rebecca, Michael Newman, Danielle Lewis and her husband Kim, Tara Mallis and her husband Jessie; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Madisson, Frankie, and Peyton DeTurris, Nolyn and Scott DeTurris, Kai and Kora Lewis, Jasper and Juniper Mallis; and many cousins and extended family members here in the United States and in England.. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard E. Newman, a brother, Eugene A. Newman in 1981, his paternal grandparents, Bernard A. and Mary Newman, and his maternal grandparents, Walter J. and Anne M. Rayfield.
Visitation and a celebration of life for James will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 6:30pm.
