Joe grew up in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and later graduated from the University of Massachusetts.
He found his calling at the Keene Sentinel, where he worked for 37 years and retired as the Director of Production, Operations, and Finance. Known for his deep commitment to fairness, integrity, and community, Joe also gave generously of his time to the Kiwanis Club of Keene, eventually serving as president. He was genuinely curious about people and their stories, wanting to understand what shaped them. His quiet, steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Peg Antosiewicz, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. Joe and Peg first met through Kiwanis, where their shared passion for community service sparked a connection. Four years later, they married, beginning a partnership grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and a love for learning. Together, they regularly attended the Center for Lifelong Learning at Keene State College, exploring new subjects and deepening their ties to the community.
Joe was a devoted father to Jesse Antosiewicz, of Barrington, NH, and Daniel Antosiewicz and his wife Jennifer, of Keene, NH. He was predeceased by his son Anthony Antosiewicz, who passed away in infancy. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Calvin and Josephine Antosiewicz, children of Jesse and Michelle Antosiewicz, and to Bradyn and Emily Antosiewicz, children of Daniel and Jennifer.
Through his marriage to Peg, Joe grew his family with Peg's son Rob Huckins, and his wife Allison, along with grandchildren Chelsea and Jackson Huckins, and Peg's daughter Sharon Thomas, and her husband James.
Joe is also survived by his sisters Shirley and Phyllis, and brother Frank. He was deeply proud of his Polish heritage and cherished the traditions and family experiences that shaped his life. He especially loved a good polka, never missing a chance to enjoy the cheerful rhythms that reminded him of his roots, especially when shared with family.
He loved a good yard sale too, not just for the deal, but for the connection and conversation that came with it. In retirement, Joe expanded his lifelong curiosity through stamp collecting. He was captivated not just by the stamps, but by the stories and people behind them. This hobby broadened his community globally, and through his stamp club, the friendships he developed became some of the most treasured of his later years. He often incorporated stamps into handmade birthday and holiday cards, each a personal touch that became part of a larger story for those who received them.
Joe's life was defined by quiet strength, gentle wisdom, and an enduring love for his family and community. He was a thoughtful listener and a steady hand that could always be depended on.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00am in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. A gathering with family and friends to honor Joe’s memory and the life he so humbly and meaningfully lived will follow the funeral service. Burial in the Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey, will be held privately by the family.
