Joseph M. Descoteaux

He was born in Manchester, NH on July 24, 1927 the son of Joseph A. and Gertrude (Martin) Descoteaux.

Joe grew up and attended schools in Troy, NH and was a 1946 graduate of Troy High school He was employed by the MPB/Timken Company in Keene for thirty-four years where he managed the print shop. He retired in 1992.

Joe was a communicant and usher at St. Bernard’s Church in Keene. He was a member of the Keene Council 819 Knights of Columbus and the John F. Kennedy Fourth degree Assembly and was Past Grand Knight. Joe was one of the founders of the Troy Little League and was the teams coach for more than 25 years and winning two championship games. He was also the Babe Ruth Team coach and was the coach of the Men’s Softball League and coached for MPB and Friendly’s Restaurant. He was an avid sports fan especially following the Red Sox and the New England Patriot’s. He loved being with his family and enjoyed collecting baseball cards.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laurette G. (Jacob) Descoteaux of Keene; two sons: Joseph M. “Marty” Descoteaux, Jr. and his wife Connie of Trophy Club, TX and Timothy H. Descoteaux of Keene, NH. Three brothers; George D. Descoteau* of Bow, NH, Richard Descoteaux and his wife Sandra of Swanzey, NH and Thomas Descoteaux and his wife Eileene of Jaffrey, NH; two sisters: Pauline Kendall and her husband Allan of Harrisville, NH and Marion Traverso and her husband Nello of Nashua, NH; two step-grandchildren; Chandler Ogle and Chris Ogle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Bernard’s Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
