Kenneth A. "Ken" Hewett, Jr. 83, of Marlborough, NH, passed away peacefully in the early morning on February 21, 2025, at the Cheshire Medical Center Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene, after a long battle with illnesses.
He was born on March 17, 1941, in Keene, NH, the son of Sadie (Wharfe) and Kenneth A. Hewett, Sr., and was the eldest of four children.
A resident of Marlborough for over 50 years with his wife, Ann and daughter, Julie, Ken lived a long and amazing life. He owned and operated Dublin Landscaping for many years.
There is a saying, "God created many men, but very few leaders". Ken was that, a leader and a mentor. He was a straight shooter. He did it his way all the time, never not in charge. From the many deer camps he oversaw, to the fishing trips he enjoyed, with just one look you would know your place. He loved the outdoors whether waiting for the sun to come up to cast his line, or the sun to go down on a deer stand.
He also loved watching all the birds at his feeders and other wildlife. But most of all, he loved to cook a big fresh platter of trout or venison and have a few cold beers and share stories with all his friends or anybody who may show up.
He enjoyed his time with some of his closest friends over the years, Calvin Cobb, Ray Blanchard, Frank Underwood, Richie Brewin Danny Snow, Larry Robidoux, Paul Tondreault, Dale and Susan Blanchard, Emily and John Edwards, and so many others.
He also liked to have a little fun with the local game wardens, retired officers Jerry Bernier, John Samson, and Chris Berg. (P.S. by the way Officer Berg, I have your hat.)
He is survived by his daughter and favorite fishing partner, Julie Hewett, and her fiancé, Darren Marazoff, and his beloved grand-dog Miss Bailey, who he lovingly called "Poopah". He was predeceased by his wife, Ann B. (Wilder) Hewett on September 17, 2020, his parents, and his siblings.
So, rest in peace Chief, you taught us all well. Until we meet in the next camp, you will be forever missed but surely never forgotten. Thank you for all the endless laughs, memories, and lessons you have provide each of us with.
A visitation and celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene. Burial will be in the spring in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Marlborough, at a date and time to be announced.
