

He was born on September 30, 1923, in Springfield, MA, the son of Max and Etta (Petlock) Kapiloff. His family moved to Keene in 1935, and he graduated from Keene High School in 1941 before enlisting in the Army following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Mr. Kapiloff served in the US Army Air Corps from 1941 until 1945 during WWII. He served with the 40th Fighter Squadron, 35th Fighter Group in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
After the war, he attended the University of New Hampshire before participating in the operation of Kapiloff Poultry Company and then working for Metropolitan Insurance Agency.
He married Dorothy Kendall of Swanzey and they raised their family of five children in the Keene area.
Mr. Kapiloff was a longtime member of the VFW Post 799, Daley Whipple Post and the American Legion Gordon-Bissell Post #4 celebrating his 50 year membership with them in 1995. He supported the American Red Cross by donating over 14 gallons of blood.
He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan who loved doing crossword puzzles, smoking cigars and fishing - but most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his sons Gerald Kapiloff of Riverside, CA and Glenn Kapiloff of Farmington, ME; his daughters Linda Kapiloff of Placentia, CA, Sandra Trybulski of Acworth and Sharon Russell of Jaffrey; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchild; and his sister Rose Weinrieb of Swanzey. He was predeceased by his brother Edward Kapiloff and sister Betty Chorney.
Services for Mr. Kapiloff will be held on Friday, October 16, 2105, 1:00 at the Congregation Ahavas Achim Synagogue, 84 Hastings Avenue, Keene, NH. Burial will follow at the Monadnock View Cemetery in Keene.
