She was born in Keene, NH on April 30, 1930 to Leo and Rose (Helie) Devoid. She was a life-long resident of Keene.
Lorraine graduated from Keene High school in 1948. Many will remember Lorraine as “Mrs. T” for the many years she spent watching over children either in her home or managing the nursery at Yankee Lanes.
Lorraine will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, beloved aunt, good friend and loving sister. Her family was the focus of her life. Whether it be hosting holiday gatherings in her home or planning trips with her sisters to Canada for family events or simply gathering around her kitchen table for coffee and small talk, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Lorraine was a trusted friend to many. She treasured her friendships. She enjoyed planning and coordinating family and class reunions, as well as her late husband’s Navy reunions. She always looked forward to her lunch dates with her close friends. She LOVED her bingo nights!
She was an active member in her community. Lorraine was a life-long communicant of the Parish of the Holy Spirit in Keene. She was a longtime member of St. Anne Sodality and the Catholic Daughters of America Court Josephine No. 319, receiving an award for Outstanding Catholic Daughter in 1972.
Lorraine is survived by her son Michael and his wife Amie of Swanzey, her daughter Susan O’Neil and her husband Kevin O’Neil of Keene, her son Steven and his fiancée Denice Keefe of Gilford, her son Robert Trombley and his wife Lisa of Keene, and her son John and his wife Mary of Amherst. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren Logan Trombley, Kelsey Brake, Colin Trombley, Erin Trombley, Matthew Trombley, Carson O’Neil, Conor O’Neil, Molly O’Neil, Alyssa Trombley, Kyle Trombley and Simon Trombley as well as two great-grandchildren, McKenzie Brake and Sophia Trombley. She also leaves behind her sister Priscilla Bergeron of Keene and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her late husband of 40 years, Raymond Trombley, who died in 1994, her sister Irene Daby of Swanzey and her brother Dr. Robert Devoid of NC.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 1st at 10:00AM in St. Bernard Church 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. There are no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in Mrs. Trombley’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mass. and New Hampshire Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
