
She was born in Washington DC on May 25, 1916, the daughter of William H. and Pearl (Goodman) Stuart. Mrs. Snowman grew up in the DC area and graduated from (name of high school?)
She went on to graduate from the American University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then earned her Masters in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
On June 23, 1944, she married Dr. Richard Snowman in Washington DC.
Mrs. Snowman served on the Keene School Board for several terms and also on the Conservation Commission for 10 years. She enjoyed being a part of the Experiment in International Living, hosting a number of exchange students over the years.
Mrs. Snowman was a long time member of the United Church of Christ here in Keene. She was a member of the Hand Bell Choir and the Women’s Fellowship.
She was a creative person and enjoyed crewel embroidery, weaving and making a variety of hand crafts. She also had a great love for the outdoors, especially spending time at the ocean. In addition, she was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed the various birds that would visit her feeder.
Mrs. Snowman is survived by her son Thomas Snowman, and wife Carol Knowles, of Amherst, MA; her two daughters Kirsten Snowman-Shelley, and husband Lew, of Walpole and Cindy McGrath, and husband Steve, of Keene; five grandchildren Kelly, Emily, Kara, Leah and Megan; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Snowman’s husband Dr. Richard Snowman, brothers Donald and Douglas Stuart, and sister Margery Harder all died earlier.
Services for Mrs. Snowman will be held on Sunday, December 4th, 2011, 3:00 pm at the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square in Keene.
