
She was born in Freeport, Long Island, New York, November 19, 1917, the daughter of Mordon M. and Carrie B. (Ashdown) Peck.
She grew up in Freeport. Following her marriage to John V. Hornbeck, Sr., the couple resided in New Jersey for 47 years. She later resided in Westminster, Vermont for three years before moving to Portsmouth, NH in 1985, and then to Keene four years ago.
Mrs. Garvey was an antique dealer as well as a collector of antiques. She was a very social person who especially enjoyed being together with her many friends.
She is survived by a son, Jack Hornbeck and his wife, Claudia, of Keene, a daughter, Marilyn L. Levin and her husband, Seymour, of Bricktown, NJ, four grandchildren; Jenifer Muenchausen of Boise, Idaho, Kylie Hornbeck of Boise, Hannah Hornbeck and John Hornbeck, both of Keene, two great-grandchildren; Cooper Muenchausen and Jack Muenchausen, and nieces and nephews. Her first husband of 46 years, John V. Hornbeck, Sr., died in 1983. Her second husband of 18 years, Robert Garvey, died in 2009. A brother, Ronald Peck, died earlier.
Services and burial in the Old Westminster Cemetery, Westminster, VT, will be private.
