She was born in Lacawanna, New York and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Good Council Academy & College in White Plains, New York with a Bachelor’s Degree in French and Math. On November 14, 1942, she married the love of her life, Harold D. Whittle, and the two of them enjoyed almost fifty-six years together.
Mary Agnes was a very caring and compassionate person who was devoted to the nurturing and care of her family. For most of her life she was a stay-at-home Mom and she took great pride in knowing that her family was well taken care of. As an active member of the Parish of the Holy Spirit and member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Keene, she had a very strong faith and cherished her relationship with the Lord. She enjoyed participating in various activities at the Keene Senior Center and was also a member of a Support Group, following the death of her husband in 1998. Mary Agnes enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether she was teaching them how to play Solitaire or other card games, knitting and crocheting blankets and hats for the new additions to the family, or just spending time with them and telling stories about herself and Harold.
She is survived by five daughters: Maureen Chandler and her husband Alton of Keene, NH, Cait Throop and her husband Gary of Potsdam, NY, Faith Palermo and her husband Phil of St. Augustine, FL, Eileen Stewart and her husband Don of West Springfield, MA and Meg Whittle and her partner Darlene Beauregard of Keene, NH, three sons: Paul Whittle and his wife Linda of Boulder, CO, Kevin Whittle of Marlborough, NH and Stephen Whittle and his fiancé Ellen Williams, of Loveland, CO., fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, her sister: Lenore Clark of Harwich, MA, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband, her brother Robert, her sister Dorothy, and her grandson Douglas Pudney.
A very special thanks to Bobbi-Jo Osborne, Linda Anderson, Thelma Lussier, Joyce Aldrich and Petra Schneider who took excellent care of Mary Agnes during the last 10 months.
