Michael Francis Amer Sr.

He died on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Cheshire Medical Center -Dartmouth Hitchcock following a period of failing health.

Mike was born, in Keene, on February 9, 1945, the son of Francis and Helen (Saari) Amer. He attended Keene schools and lived in the area his entire life.

Most recently, he worked in maintenance for the Keene Housing Authority and prior to that he worked for the State of NH Highway Department for many years.

Mike, as his friends called him, was a skilled gardener known for his beautiful flower beds and producing lots of vegetables that he shared with family and friends. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, trapping and hunting. Frequenting, and hosting, yard sales were two of his favorite past times; being the collector and bargain hunter that he was. He loved meeting and talking with people and as a result had a great many friends.

He is survived by his former wife of many years; Marjorie (Burgess) Amer, of Franklin; his sons Michael F. Amer, Jr. and wife of Swanzey and Scott W. Amer and partner of Florida; his daughter, Angela J. Amer and partner of Winchester; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; his brother Dennis K. Amer and wife, Elaine, of Keene; nieces and nephew.
