Orpha L. "Lee" Waters

She was born in Claremont, NH on November 2, 1939, the daughter of Clifton and Donna (Frasier) Colburn. She was a 1957 graduate of Whitingham High School.

On November 9, 1957, she married the love of her life, Robert E. Waters.

She was very active within her community and was a member of the Keene Senior Center, the Keene Family YMCA, and the Old Homestead Garden Club. She was also a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for her children spread not only to her children but to others she took in, including foster children. Her outgoing personality enabled her to meet so many people and she was able to connect with a variety of different groups of people, whether playing the steel drums in Troy; attending or leading a Qi Gong group in the Ashuelot River Park; sewing with the ladies; or in her various travels. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach or going for a walk. She was happiest when she was with her family and she especially enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday. She also held a very special place in her heart for the pets with whom she shared her home, including the Yorkshire Terriers she raised with her children under the name of Roshalee Kennels.

She is survived by her son, Shawn Waters and his wife, Tonya, of Walpole, NH; three daughters, Debra Ricker and her husband, Mark, of Keene, Robin Willis and her husband, Joseph, of Keene, and Shannon Waters of Keene; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Celia Latham and Virginia Dalrymple, both of Vermont; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert, and her brother, Hollis Colburn.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015, at 2pm at the Monadnock Covenant Church, 90 Base Hill Road, Keene, NH. Susan Simonds, Celebrant, will officiate. Private burial will be in the spring. There are no public calling hours.
