The great out of doors and all that nature has to offer, paused in silence with the passing of Roland A. Paradis, 74, of Turtle Rock Road, Stoddard, NH, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
His parents, Donat and Jeannette (Morency) Paradis welcomed their son into the world on June 15, 1944 in St. George DE Winsor, Quebec, Canada. At the age of three, Roland and his parents moved to the United States.
A skilled man in mind and hands, Roland was an accomplished carpenter and basically, a “jack-of-all-trades. With his knowledge as a mechanic, he could fix just about anything put before him with ease, including tractors that he loved, and restoring his Farmall H. He also worked as a mechanic for 17 years with Hitchner Manufacturing in Milford, NH.
An avid outdoorsman, he cherished everything that nature had to offer. This included hunting and fishing; camping with his family; motorcycle riding; snowmobiling; riding the ATV; and cutting wood at his sawmill. When not enjoying the great outdoors, his second favorite was playing video games.
He built a beautiful home that came with lots of sweat and tears. He took great pride in caring for his wife, Susan, providing her with a beautiful place to leave and protecting her from the bad in this world.
He was an avid NASCAR fan. He was also a member of the Lone Pine Hunters Club in Hollis, NH.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his wife of 22 years, Susan L. (Creaser) Paradis, who affectionately called him “Rollie” and the “feisty little Frenchman”; his son, Michael R. Paradis and his wife, Jessie, of Burlington, VT; a granddaughter, Eleanor Paradis of Burlington; a brother, Paul Paradis and his wife, Mary, of Milford, NH; a sister, Raymonde Richardson and her husband, Ernie, of Greenfield, NH; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arlene and George Creaser of Sebastian, FL; his step-children, Robert Warner of Bennington, NH, Thomas Ellwood of Keene, NH, and Nancy Warner of Georgia; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Roland was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Paradis who died at the age of 13.
In keeping with Roland’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.
