

He was born in Springfield, VT on November 26, 1927 the son of Herbert F. and Eva May (Fuller) Cheever.
Ronald grew up and attended schools in Springfield, VT and was a graduate of Springfield (VT) High School.
Following high school he served proudly as a Corporal in the Pacific theater with the US Army during WWII and then served two tours of duty in Korea.
He was employed as a manufacturing engineer by the American Optical Company in Keene for more than twenty-seven years. He was a member of the Gordon-Bissell Post 4 American Legion and the Keene Post 799 VFW. He was also a member of the Troy and Keene Senior Citizens and was a former host for many years at the Nickerson State Park in Brewster, MA. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America and helped his three sons to become Eagle Scouts. He was also instrumental in training other area Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, chair caning, camping, gardening and most of all spending time with his family his pets.
One of the highlights of Ronald’s life took place on June 5th 2011 when he participated in the New England Honor Flight Program. This Honor Flight transports New England Veteran’s from their home to Washington, DC to participate in a special program at the WW II Memorial.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary E. (Loseby) Cheever of Keene; three sons and daughters-in-law; Ronald F. Cheever and his wife Alice of Chesterfield, NH, Thomas E. Cheever and his wife Deborah of Concord, NH and James M. Cheever and his wife Cindy of Lempster, NH. Four grandchildren; Heidi L. Cheever and her significant other Dan Epps, Jason T. Cheever and his wife Kym, Aaron R. Cheever and his wife Eileen, and Jennifer Cheever and hr fiancé Joshua Watson; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Shirley LeBlanc.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street, Keene, NH on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors at the Monadnock View Cemetery will be private.
