He was born on December 29, 1942, in Keene, New Hampshire, to Earl Clarence Dow and Julia Florence (Decele) Knight. Keene was the place he called home for the great majority of his life, and it was there that he built lasting memories and deep roots in the community he loved. He also lived in Brockton, where he met his lifelong love, Yvonne Thomas, shortly after leaving the Navy.
Ronald proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, including service during the Vietnam War. His dedication to duty and love of country remained a defining part of his character throughout his life. He was a devoted member of VFW Post 799, where he found brotherhood and camaraderie among fellow veterans who shared his sense of service and sacrifice.
In his leisure time, Ronald found great joy and peace in fishing. Whether casting a line on a quiet morning or swapping stories with friends by the water, it was a simple pleasure that brought him true happiness. Ronald was also a huge sports fan with a deep love for baseball, basketball, and football. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams.
Ronald shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Yvonne, and one of their most cherished traditions was going out dancing together. Those evenings on the dance floor reflected the joy, romance, and love they shared, a bond that was a joy to witness for all who knew them.
Above all else, Ronald was an excellent father and a devoted family man. A true homebody at heart, he found his greatest purpose in being present for the people he loved. He was always there, for every need, every struggle, and every moment that mattered, offering a steady hand and an open heart without hesitation. Whether it was showing up in times of difficulty or simply being a comforting presence at home, Ronald never wavered in his commitment to care for and support his family.
Ronald is survived by his son, John Knight; his wife, Reba; and his brother, Bill.
Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne (Thomas) Knight; his parents, Earl Clarence Dow and Julia Florence (Decele) Knight; and his cousins, Ray Stetson, June Stetson, and Carl and Jerry Bell
He is very heavily missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him, a man whose kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family left a lasting mark on every life he touched.
