His parents, Sylvia J. (Allen) and Ronald E. Sargent Sr., welcomed their son into the world on June 20, 1945, in Gardner, MA. Ron grew up in Gardner and was a 1963 graduate of Gardner High School.
Ronald enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 2, 1965, and proudly served in the Air Force until his honorable discharge on July 28, 1969, at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Trained as an air traffic controller, he would proudly say that he served at the busiest airfield in the world, which was at the DaNang Air Force Base in Vietnam.
In February 1967, he married Marion (Senecal) Sargent. Together they built a wonderful life, enjoying many camping trips together with family and friends. They spent many years snowmobiling together and enjoyed country line dancing.
Ron’s favorite past-time was riding his Harley Davidson. When he was in his 60’s, Ron began to learn Tae Kwon Do, achieving the rank of green belt. Many of his favorite memories were those created with family, especially his grandkids.
He worked for 28 years as a lineman with the New England Telephone Company. He was a member and union steward of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2320 and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his daughter Kimberly Tomer and her husband Frank Tomer, Jr., of Swanzey, NH; his grandchildren Samantha Tomer, Frank Tomer III, both of Swanzey; two brothers, Daniel Sargent and his wife Debbie of Gardner, MA, Jeffrey Sargent and his wife Sally of Baldwinville, MA; two sisters, Tracy Ferriera and her husband Rick of Millsboro, DE, Cynthia Rader and her husband Tim of Gardner; his sisters-in-law, Cynthia Ninomiya and her husband Bill of Leominster, MA, Sheila DeVarney of Leominster; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. His wife of 57 years, Marion (Senecal) Sargent, died in November of 2024.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. Services for Ronald with Air Force honors will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 11:00am in the chapel at the Winchendon Veterans Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Sargent’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans, 275 Chestnut Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
