She was born on March 25, 1958, in Manhattan, KS, daughter of the late Richard and Freida (Konig) Elliott. As a child, she lived in several places including Germany during her father’s service career with the United States Army. Sandy's family eventually settled in Marlow, NH, the place she would always consider home. She attended area schools and graduated from Keene High School with the Class of 1976.
Throughout her career, Sandy was employed by Peerless Insurance, Concord Labs, and Audio Accessories.
Sandy had a gift for being exceptionally good with small children and animals. If a baby bird had fallen out of the nest and was in need, Sandy would not hesitate to save that bird even hand raising it if that's what was necessary. Prior to her children attending school, she was fortunate to be able to raise them herself in their home. Although she was straight up and no nonsense, she had a nurturing soul, and was always kind, loving, and thoughtful.
Winters were a time she could participate in one of her favorite pastimes, snowmobiling. She also enjoyed cards and dice games with family and friends, jigsaw puzzles, wordsearches, and reading.
But, above all else nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren. They were always her favorite topic of conversation and she was so immensely proud of the both of them.
Sandy leaves behind her two children: Garry Kenyon, Jr. and his wife Bethany of Cumberland, ME, and Amanda “AJ” Britton and her husband Glenn of Winchester, NH; grandchildren: Freya Kenyon and Noah Britton; Sister: JoAnn May and her husband Bill of Marlow, NH; Father of her children and former husband of 43 years: Garry Kenyon, Sr. of Marlow; as well as extend family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Diane Coon.
Sandy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Applewood Nursing Home for their impeccable care over the last few years, especially to Stephanie, Ana, Shirlina, Maureen, Savannah, Crystal, and Deb.
They would also like to thank Kelly and Erika from Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH.
