Sylvia C. Lewis

She was born in Keene on July 30, 1927, the daughter of Willard and Evelyn (Hewes) Thompson. She grew up in Keene and was a Keene High School graduate.

In 1946, she married Robert C. Lewis Sr. in Keene. They then moved to Swanzey where Mrs. Lewis spent most of her life.

Mrs. Lewis enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was also an artist who enjoyed painting with acrylics. She was an excellent cook, gardener and loved the animals on their farm. Earlier in their lives, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis would often go horseback riding together.

She is survived by her sons Robert C. Lewis Jr. of Keene and Michael W. Lewis of Winchester; her daughters Marcia E. Lewis of Hinsdale and Linda C Hopkins of Winchester; her sister Martha Huseland of Ocean Grove, NJ; six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lewis’ husband Robert C. Lewis Sr. died in 2007, her brother Willard Thompson died in 2010 and her brother Duane Thompson died at birth.

Services for Mrs. Lewis will be held on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011, 2:30 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Swanzey. Calling hours will be held at 1:30 PM, also at the funeral home.
