Thomas A. Girard

He was born in Claremont, NH, on April 23, 1946, the son of Herman J. and Margaret (Sanborn) Girard. He grew up in Claremont and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1964.

In 1999, he married Dawn Rita Timms in a small family ceremony at his sisters’ home in Claremont.

Mr. Girard worked for American Optical Company for 20+ years, then at Kingsbury Corp. and finally at Tidland Corp, all in Keene, for 20+ years, as a machinist, before retiring in 2010.

He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture for the log home that he lovingly built from a kit in 1975. He also enjoyed working outdoors cutting and splitting wood and working in his vegetable garden, gladly sharing any excess produce with his neighbors.

Mr. Girard is survived by his wife of 13 years, Dawn Girard of Harrisville; his sons David of Burlington, VT, Anthony and his wife Sara of Wilmington, VT and Michael of Manchester; his grandchildren Nash and Juniper Rose; his sisters Susan Carril, and husband Dan, of Nashua, Sara Darling of Concord, Carol and Joanna Girard, both of Claremont; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. His brother David Girard and brother-in-law Dick Darling died earlier.

Services for Mr. Girard will be private. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
