Walter Frank Hillock Sr.

He was born in Leverett, MA, on June 8, 1923, the son of Robert F. and Eliza B. (Black) Hillock. Attending area schools until his family moved to NH while he was young. His family moved around often, and finally he settled in the Keene area, Swanzey for a brief period before finding home in Winchester at the S. Parrish Road Co-Op for the last 28 years.

He had worked at the Homestead Woolen Mills for 16 years and then for Troy Mills as a Mechanic for 20 years until his retirement.

He married Dorothy E. Sloan in a family service at their home in Swanzey, on June 6, 1987. They enjoyed 30 years together and 28 years of marriage.

He enjoyed fishing, taking care of the home and its gardens and tinkering in the shed out back on a number of mechanical projects. He also enjoyed the cats that he cared for over the years. He enjoyed taking care of them, his family as well as himself, mowing the yard up until just last year as well as continuing to lift weights up until just recently.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E Hillock, of Winchester; his sons: Walter F. Hillock, Jr. and Richard Hillock, both of Swanzey, several nieces and nephews; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as many longtime friends and neighbors in the S. Parrish Rd. Co-Op. He was predeceased by a son: Raymond Hillock, a daughter: Betty Starr, a brother: Homer Hillock and two sisters: Eddie Farnum and Ethyln Shinn.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, at 11:00 at the Fletcher Funeral Home. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial will follow the services at the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial donations be made, in Walter F. Hillock, Sr.’s name, to a charity he held a very special spot for: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), 313 Washington St #310, Newton, MA 02458.
