Curtis “Bryan” Bevers was born November 10, 1967, in Lubbock, Texas. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1987. Eager to serve, he spent the majority of his time overseas. His ability to excel in every aspect of his duties, as well as his integrity and moral character, resulted in his rapid promotion to Sergeant. He proudly served his country until 1994, but the desire for a family weighed heavily on his heart.
Soon after Bryan returned to Lubbock, he met the love of his life, Lori. They became inseparable and married in 1998. His second career in law enforcement led him to Odessa. The work was exciting and he enjoyed every moment, but his love for family eventually led him to leave. Bryan then became a licensed insurance adjuster which took him to Arlington in 2001. He worked storms across the country and made a name for himself. His outstanding job performance quickly led him to the top of his field where he was put in charge of Commercial Claims & Large Loss at Citizens Florida. But being away from his family for long stretches of time proved difficult and he decided to take a job which would allow him to spend more time at home. Bryan continued to work until injuries sustained during his military service resulted in his medical retirement in 2008.
Being unable to work gave Bryan the priceless gift of being a stay-at-home dad. He attended countless dance recitals, swim meets, baseball and softball games, scouting events, band performances, tennis matches, and Juvenile Diabetes fundraising events. Being a Dad was, by far, the most rewarding “job” Bryan ever had – he loved his children and was incredibly proud of every single one of them. Bryan also had the distinct privilege of being called Grandpa. He adored his grandchildren and made the most of every moment he was blessed to spend with them. Bryan was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother & friend. Bryan leaves a legacy of service, sacrifice, and a profound love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
