

Johnny Johnson was born to Elizabeth Johnson of Clarksdale, MS. Elizabeth died when Johnny was a young adult. His sweet grandmother Clara Ousley of Clarksdale MS. raised Johnny in the church. Johnny graduated from Aggie High School of Clarksdale, MS.
The course of Johnny’s lifespan consisted of a life as a college professor, student, entrepreneur, father, and musician. Johnny was born with a keen ear to hear and play music. His instrument of choice was the drums although he could also play the guitar and keyboard too. Johnny set out to make a life and career as a musician. His specialty was Blues, Jazz, and Salsa. He soon realized that he wanted to pursue his music career so he joined the United States Navy as a music student.
Johnny traveled all over the world while accomplishing his goals. Until his passing, Johnny could speak four foreign languages. Johnny went on to several renowned colleges after the military as a student and a Professor of Psychology. He earned his Ph.D. in psychology while he taught part-time at Shelby State Community College, Memphis TN.
Johnny Johnson never knew a stranger. He had an infectious laugh that would just draw anyone into his world. He lived a full life doing what he loved which was making music. At the prime of his life, he played in the band on Beale Street of Memphis, TN for many years. His stage name was Johnny Cool and many fans loved him. Johnny was ambitious, self-driven, funny, kind, encouraging, caring, loving, and not to mention a phenomenal entrepreneur. Most important he was a man that was grateful for everything. He had the true heart of a servant. He spoke with such eloquent speech. He loved life and people. He was slow to speak except when it came to dinnertime. His favorite saying was, “You got any bread”.
In the latter part of his life, Johnny moved to Keller Texas March 2020 to join his daughter to care for him until his passing. Johnny accepted Jesus Christ as his savior late in life January 2021. He loved the Lord and his family until his passing.
Johnny is survived by: Tonya Johnson, (daughter) Anita Brown, (daughter), Derrick B. Brown (son-in-law), Andre Calder- (grandson), Shondalla Calder- (granddaughter), Derrick D. Brown (grandson), Jonathan Brown, (grandson), great-grandsons, Ayden Calder, Peyton Calder, and Zaylen Calder.

A visitation will occur Friday, March 24, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, 220 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX 76248. A funeral service for Johnny will be held Friday, March 24, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 220 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX 76248. A committal service will occur Friday, March 24, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Dallas Forth Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
