Joyce Marie Kent

Joyce Marie Kent, 84, born in Baldwin County, Georgia, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Joyce worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years, graduating nursing school and starting her nursing career in the 1970s. She had two daughters, one son, and a granddaughter follow in her footsteps to become nurses. Joyce was a prolific reader; reading several thousand books over her life. She was also a gifted cook, including a fourteen layer chocolate cake that was a centerpiece of many holidays. Joyce was completely devoted to her family in every way imaginable. Her door was never closed, neither was her kitchen. Joyce loved to cook large family dinners for anyone who came to visit. Joyce loved gardening, sometimes growing the largest vegetables her grandkids had ever seen. She had a particular affinity for growing marigolds. Joyce is the daughter of the late Lonnie Sanders and Charlie Mae Sanders. She is sister to David, Robin (Debbie), Rodney, Thelma (Lucius), Shirley, Linda, and Jeannie. Joyce is mother to six sons: Johnny (Faye), Lloyd, Raymon, Douglas, Alan (Susan), and Richard (Morgan). Joyce is the mother to four daughters: Cynthia (Michael), Carmen (Steve), Barbara, and Phyllis. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other loving family members. A private memorial service will be held by her surviving children and their families. Memorial contributions can be made on her behalf to the American Heart Association.
