Laura was born on April 23, 1991 (7 weeks early) in Irving, Texas, to parents Gayle and Roger Barron. She graduated ahead of her class from New Direction High School and began her college days at TCCC before transferring to her preferred school, University of North Texas. During her time at UNT, she was a Resident Assistant, and was a founding member and first president of UNT’s student run advertising agency SWOOP. Upon graduating Cum Laude from the School of Journalism with an Advertising Degree specializing in Strategic Communication, she entered her chosen field as an account manager. Eventually she decided that following in her mother and grandmother’s footsteps as an educator was what she desired. Teaching high school English became her dream job. Laura also began her own online marketing firm, Laura Inc.
Throughout her K-12 education, she thrived in creative problem solving with programs such as Odyssey of the Mind (OM) and Destination Imagination (DI). During high school, she coached her little sister’s DI team. Melissa idolized her big sister. With special permission, she became an appraiser for competitions at age 16, and Challenge Master at age 17. Her creativity extended to changing her name to Chloe during her 5th grade year.
Laura had a flair for photography, was an incredible unrecognized artist, and was poetic with words. Her true passion was doing crafts with her daughter. She enjoyed acting in local children’s theater performances. At South Keller Intermediate, she was a KSKI-TV newscaster. During middle school, she became Stage Manager for the extravagant musical theater shows under director Barry Yandell. Active in her church youth group, she volunteered for service projects and joined the group’s mission trips. A special bond she held with her dad was with Indian Princess.
Our farm in Buckholts, Texas, was her happy place; riding four wheelers, tubing and swimming in the Little River, and visiting her adoptive grandparents, Kinder and MaryLen Chambers. She and her mother took many trips with her friends to the farm. In addition, she convinced her mother to get matching tattoos of a hummingbird, believing that when birds stop flapping their wings and soar, they trust God to carry them through the air.
Laura had a pure sweetness which was evident to friends and family. She was a 6’1” blonde who never really believed she was a beauty, despite being told this all her life. She would light up a room when she entered.
Ever since her pre-teen years, Laura enjoyed babysitting and wanted desperately to be a mother. Despite the fact that Nora lived with her grandparents, Laura adored her daughter, and visited as often as she could. This adoration was mutual. Our hearts are broken, but Laura is happy and whole, waiting to welcome us with open arms someday in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been set up for Nora’s college fund. https://gofund.me/6c7259eef
