Richard (Rick) Alan Kinsella, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Euclid, Ohio on September 26, 1949, to Eugene and Alyce (Schindler) Kinsella.
His family lived in the Cleveland area during his formative years then moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where he graduated from Dixie Hollins High School and attended SPJC. He met his future wife, Martha Green, during that time.
Rick enlisted in the Air Force in 1968 and ranked Sergeant as a Law Enforcement Officer. His four year active duty stationed him in Puerto Rico then Cheyenne, WY. After moving back to St. Petersburg, FL, he began a career in transportation. He drove city and charter buses and dispatched for the City of St. Pete before moving with his wife and first child to San Antonio, TX. Over the years he drove for Church's Fried Chicken, Kerrville Bus Company, Albertsons, Daymark Logistics, and Gaylord Texan. His last job was with Delta Airlines. Rick's strong work ethic had him, at one point, balancing three jobs at the same time.
Rick was active in Boy Scouts and church youth activities at Garden Crest Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, FL where he later married. He was a long-standing member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mansfield, TX where he sang in the choir, was a lector, and served on committees. He was a current member of First Presbyterian Church, Grapevine, TX.
Rick's passions were his wife and three daughters, sons-in law, grandchildren, family birthdays and vacations, his work, cooking, and grilling, watching his favorite sports teams play, humorous movies, reading the newspaper every day, music, and his truck.
He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Kinsella, mother Alyce Kinsella, paternal grandparents Thomas Eugene Kinsella and Christine (Srp) Haker; and maternal grandparents Earl Schindler and Flora (Long) Schindler.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Kinsella, and his children Kelly Kinsella-Jenkins (Chris), Colleen Joyce (Chad), and Kristy Smith (Jason). Grandchildren: Kora Kinsella-Smith, Jacob Joyce, Kiley Joyce, and Luke Joyce. Siblings: Thomas Kinsella (Adrienne), Kathleen Kinsella, and Kevin Kinsella (Karen) Aunt: Joan Velotta, and many other nieces and cousins.
A memorial service for Richard will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 220 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX 76248.
A private inurnment will take place at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211 at a later date.
