WILSON (nee Laskiwski): Alice Elizabeth . It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Alice Elizabeth Wilson, who peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on January 18, 2026, in Kelowna, British Columbia. Alice was a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend whose kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Alice was born on November 9, 1934, in Edmonton, Alberta, and raised on the family farm in Fedorah. She often reflected on the hardships of farm life, which helped shape her into a strong, resilient, and independent woman. These qualities guided her throughout her life, especially during her years as a devoted military wife. As a young woman, Alice left the farm to begin a new chapter in Edmonton, where she worked as a telephone operator and in clerical roles with various government agencies, including City Hall.
In 1959, Alice met the love of her life, Alec (Cameron) Wilson. She often spoke of how fortunate she felt to share her life with such a loving and supportive husband. They married soon after and welcomed two daughters, Fiona and Deborah. Alice embraced her role as a military wife and homemaker with dedication and grace, travelling extensively with Cameron and their girls during military postings. Along the way, she formed lasting friendships within the military community, creating a second family that remained dear to her heart.
In 1979, Alice and Cameron made Kelowna their home. Alice worked at Kelowna General Hospital in housekeeping until her retirement and came to truly love life in the Okanagan Valley. She found joy in walking groups, swimming with friends, gardening, arts and crafts, and later in life, cooking—an interest sparked through her involvement in social committees at Brant’s Crossing. Alice also loved watching sports, especially cheering on her beloved Edmonton Eskimos, and was known for her competitive (and playful) spirit during board games and cards, always accompanied by laughter.
One of Alice’s greatest joys was her grandchildren, Jennifer and Theodore. She was a loving and attentive grandmother who delighted in sharing activities, laughter, and her famous morning Okanagan fruit salads. Above all, Alice will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unconditional love.
A woman of faith, Alice lived a life rooted in compassion. Even during her struggle with dementia, her gentle spirit shone through, expressed in gratitude, praise, and the many kisses she so freely shared.
Alice is survived by her beloved husband, Cameron Wilson of Kelowna; daughters Fiona Wilson of Kelowna and Deborah Maczek (Paul) of Vernon; grandchildren Jennifer Maczek of Melfort, Saskatchewan, and Theodore Maczek of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; sister Sylvia Chalmers of Edmonton; and nieces, nephew, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Nicholas Laskiwski; sisters Victoria Rhoades and Olive Belcourt; brother Emil Laskiwski and her beloved nephews.
A private family prayer service and cremation will take place. A service and interment will be held in the spring, with details to be shared at a later date.
